All runners from the TUM exclusively can participate:
- Students,
- Staff from science and administration, and
- and of course all alumni of the TUM.
Not only ambitious people who want to break the time records of previous years are invited but also those who simply want to enjoy physical activity.
Participation is not possible without a concrete connection to the TUM network - a TUM identification is required for registration.
Besides all existing challenges, this year for the first time we will have a new Challenge called TUMlinge-CHALLENGE!
For all male and female professors, as well as the chair teams and also the administrative teams, there will again be the CHALLENGE to run the 11 km in the best time and to benchmark themselves against the winners from 2018 in order to win the challenge cup in one of the four categories.
Participants of the Chair Challenge and both Professor Challenges will receive the race package as well as the TUM running shirt via internal post.
This year's route runs exactly 5.5 km over the central campus in Garching. The 11 km runners will do it twice.
The start and finish is is front of the main entrance of LRZ.
At Ludwig-Prantl-Straße the street will be crossed. For this reason Ludwig-Prantl-Straße will be closed for cars and trucks between 4.45 and 6.30 pm from Boltzmannstraße to the entrance of the parking area.
During this time access to the campus by car will be possible only through Lichtenbergerstraße. Exceptions apply to public transport and in emergencies, the vehicles of the fire brigade, police or paramedics.
Additional to the Chair Challenge, as in previous years, there will also be each a Male and a Female Professor Challenge.
To participate, you only need to select the right type of participant at the beginning of the registration (either male or female professor) and then mark the corresponding field (Participation in the Male or Female Professor Challenge).
All professors can take part in the Professor Challenge as well as support the chair at the Chair Challenge.
All of those who want to take part in the Chair Challenge only have to mark the corresponding field when registering (Registration for the Chair Challenge) and specify the name of the chair. Please pay attention to the correct spelling of the chair (e.g. Lehrstuhl für elektrische Energiespeichertechnik) It makes no difference whether you are the head of the chair, work for the chair, or are writing your thesis there. The main thing is that you agree as a team and register under one single name; this simplifies the verification process for the organiser.
The times of the five fastest runners will be added together and this result will be the winning time for the fastest chair.
Of course, all runners of the winning chair will be invited to the award ceremony.
All teams with at least 5 participants from
- student organisations/initiatives/council of TUM (IKOM, WARR, TUfast, Junge Akademie etc.)
- employees from the administration and facilities (library, management, International Center, hotline, faculty administration etc.)
can build their won team now and participate in the newly established TUMlinge-CHALLENGE.
It is important that the team is composed of a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 9 runners. Should you want to register a larger team (more than 9 runners), the team will be split automatically after registration (Team name 1, Team name 2, etc.) The times of the five fastest runners will be added together and this result will be the winning time for the fastest team.
Of course, all runners of the winning team will be invited to the award ceremony.
For larger teams, this means:
before you sign up, consider which runners have the best chance of winning a top slot and register accordingly. To participate, you only need to mark the corresponding field when registering (Participation in the TUMlinge-Challenge) and register the name of the team.
Make sure that everybody in your team spells the name of the team exactly in the same way.
All of those without a professor title or a professorial affiliation can form a team with at least four other participants (e.g. student council teams, residence teams or just a diverse team).
