On March 26th , master’s students of TUM are cordially invited to join our PrepDoc Program where TUM Graduate Dean, Prof. Hans-Joachim Bungartz, will present the unique TUM-model and the TUM Graduate School, the central service institution for doctoral candidates.
In addition, a TUM alumni will speak about the trajectory of her academic career and speakers from the Graduate Council will discuss their role representing the interests of doctoral candidates at TUM. The team from the TUM Graduate School will also be available to answer all of your questions relating to the administrative side of pursuing a doctorate.
Following the presentations, representatives from various graduate centers will provide you with insight into the particularities of doctoral education and research culture at their department.

Further information on the “Preparing for Your Doctorate” Program:
The program is open to national and international master’s students of TUM. Its aim is to prepare and inform ambitious master’s students on the application and main components of pursuing a doctorate at TUM. Through this program, TUM-GS offers you a valuable insight into planning for your PhD, including: funding opportunities, research strategies and scientific practice and financial opportunities. Furthermore, we provide you with a perspective on the different paths for pursuing a doctorate at the various TUM departments.
The program is free of charge and consists of four modules that can be booked independently from each other:
Module 1: Search, Cite, Publish (in cooperation with the University Library)
Module 2: How to Fund my PhD? An Introduction to Doctoral Financing at TUM
Module 3: How to Choose a Supervisor
Module 4: Cite it Right (in cooperation with the University Library)
Module 5: Coaching for Master and future doctoral candidates (in cooperation with TUM.diversity)
Terms of participation:
Places are limited and registration is handled on a first-come-first-serve basis. Registration is binding. The offer is free of cost.
